Cardiff Harlequins Pétanque Club has three teams who compete in the Welsh Petanque Association (WPA) national League Cup and Plate:

• Harlequin Jesters
• Harlequin Hijackers
• Dewiniaid Cwins (Harlequin Wizards)

All three teams play against WPA league teams throughout the Spring and Summer.

Matches are played on a weekly basis , usually on a Wednesday evening, with both ‘home’ and ‘away’ fixtures against the other clubs in their division.

There are two WPA competitions open to affiliated clubs. The National League Cup/Plate, and the Welsh Cup. The winners of the Welsh Cup are invited to go forward to represent Wales in the European Cup, where they compete against countries from all over Europe. This is held in France.

As the season progresses, the WPA introduce their Cup competition, where all affiliated clubs regardless of their divisional status play against each other.

It’s early days yet, but the three petanque club teams are giving a good account of themselves. Everyone is enjoying the opportunity of mixing with other clubs, making new friends in the petanque community, improving our playing skills, and gaining experience during our inaugural season.
